Our Journey: Bringing Light to the Darkness
We all endured the collective trauma of COVID-19, a time when the world seemed plunged into darkness. Many of us lost loved ones and felt the weight of despair. Yet, amidst this uncertainty, we rediscovered the importance of family and the safety of our homes. While many faced job losses, everyone sought a glimmer of hope, worried about the health and lives of their family members.
At the time, I was traveling and enjoying a wonderful time in Dubai, meeting new friends from all over the world. Adam Setjno is one of them. But as we returned, the world had changed due to the pandemic. Being a sensitive person, I was deeply affected and wished to do something to bring hope and positivity to others.
During those dark times, lighting wasn't just about illumination; it became a way to transform our living spaces, creating warmth, comfort, and a sense of peace. Imagine coming home after a long day to a beautifully lit room that lifts your spirits and makes your space feel welcoming. The right light can change a mood, inspire creativity, and bring a sense of tranquility. At Mashal Designs, we believe that lighting your home beautifully can light up your life, offering a beacon of hope even in the darkest times.
E-commerce was booming, and many began working and selling online. I, too, sought a way to stay busy and make a difference. Suddenly, the idea of lighting struck me as unique and meaningful. My name, Mishal, it's a Persian word meaning "light," and I felt a deep connection to this concept. I started designing and searching for production partners, discussing ideas until our products were ready.
I shared my vision with my friend Adam from Poland, and together, we began selling on Etsy. This is how Mashal Designs was born. Although it was a small start, the positive response encouraged us to launch our own web store in November 2023.
Our journey has been filled with challenges, but we remain dedicated to our brand's mission: to bring hope to those who were in darkness during the pandemic. As our homes became sanctuaries, why not brighten them with unique designs and colors, reminding us that life is still beautiful.Â
